The Island of the Dome of the Slate is a little rocky island with a big dome on top, very close to Citadel Island. It appears only in LBA2. Its interior is very mysterious, having a transparent floor that only becomes visible a few paces from where people walk, and having a seemingly bottomless pit.
To pass the third test of the School of Magic, Twinsen must go through the dome, with the help of the map outside of it. The ferry doesn't have a service to that island, so the only way to get to it is by Dino-Fly. Once he passes the test, he gets a Magic Slate from the rector of the School of Magic.
